About the Project
Bridging our Circle of Friends is a Gold Award project created by Ambassador Girl Scout Madison Seifer. It aims to spread awareness about different types of physical and mental disabilities. This website is for people of all ages, and Madison's goal is that people learn a lot from it and carry this information with them and that it stays with them. :)
How the idea came to life!
I've been a member of the club Circle of Friends at my school for three years, having become an officer last year. The aim of the club is to bring both the general education and special education communities to eat together at lunch a couple times a week. Being a liaison my first year, I noticed that some people would occasionally abandon their partner to sit with another friend that might have been higher functioning (or easier to carry a conversation with). I thought of this project because I didn't want to see people excluded or being left behind anymore. This is why I thought the title, "Bridging our Circle of Friends" was so genius. It connects people within the circle through friendly education/spreading awareness and no one is left behind, which is what I strive for.
